Matthew Cho, LLB, LLM (Hons), Director
Matthew is a property and commercial lawyer with extensive experience working with private clients, corporates and local governments on all aspects of property and commercial law, including, leasing, subdivisions, developments, property acquisitions and divestments, and property finance.
Matthew joined Bay Law Office in 2022 after working for a national law firm. He has been practising since 2009.
Matthew also has an intimate understanding of local government processes having previously worked as a local government in-house lawyer.
Matthew speaks fluent English and Korean.
- Advising property developers on all aspects of property acquisitions, resource consenting, pre-sales, subdivisions, funding and sell-downs, including multi-stage and high-rise apartment developments
- Advising a consortium of high-net-worth individuals on the site acquisition and joint development of a private healthcare facility in Greenlane
- Advising a fast-growing solar farm business on securing development sites throughout New Zealand and distributed generation arrangements
- Leading the legal workstream for the 36th America’s Cup for Auckland Council
- Acting for a global leader in wind power solutions on securing access over private properties for the transportation of wind turbine and blades for the Turitea Wind Farm Project
- Advising non-institutional lenders on property-backed lending arrangements and securitisation
- Advising local authorities on various regulatory and non-regulatory property and commercial arrangements
- Advising on complex design build leases and subsequent divestments
